Luxury Tennis Sneakers Alternatives from The High Street

Lanvin Basket Suede Sneakers
As far as luxury tennis sneakers remain relevant Lanvin and Common Projects would always be the holy grail. Both labels popularized the most common silhouettes. Lanvin is know for it's cap toes and Common Projects has its signature clean toe with double stitch vamp. A pair of any of these would set you off at least £250. Have no fear if you're not willing to make that sort of investment but at the same time don't want to compromise of the luxe aesthetic. The high street is awash with different offerings from Topman to River Island.

Common Projects Achilles Low Trainers
Marks & Spencer's offering tops the list and is the priciest at £85. But it's worth every penny for not only its aesthetics but also its durability. River Island at the moment have the widest variety of luxe-esque tennis sneakers. They come in low and high tops with the low retailing for £50 and the hi top versions £55.

River Island Grey Lace up Sneakers £50
River Island Black Nubuck Trainers £50

River Island Men's Spring Summer 2014 Lookbook

The River Island mens ss14 collection looks like a flower bomb was let loose within it, imploding and filling the the pieces with vibrant colors and floral patterns. There's an infusion of animal skin with a baseball jacket aptly called 'Asap Jacket' probably inspired by ASAP ROCKY and loads of sports elements and trappings. One of my favorite bits from the collection is the re-adapted forest green camo and also the reversible technicolor bomber.

River Island Men's ss14 Press Day

Last week I went into the River Island press office for its menswear press day and I was amazed by the amount of goodstuff that I saw. I was most impressed by their neoprene bags and a mesh baseball jacket.

There was an obvious sport element to the collection and the tailoring was like a trip to pastel land. Awesome effort from the label.

Joseph Turvey x River Island Menswear Spring Summer 14 Collaboration

After the huge success of a debut menswear collection with British Designer T. Lipop, River Island’s Design Forum initiative is proud to announce Joseph Turvey for the Spring/Summer 2014 collection. Renowned for scene-stealing illustration and experimental takes on fabrication, Joseph Turvey’s signature prints and bold colour palette have already garnered him a deserved reputation as one of the most refreshing and innovative designers of his generation. The hero element of the range is in the playful pink camouflage. This is a strong theme throughout, and plays off chic elements of luxe sportswear, statement neoprene accessories and matching jersey sets. These elements juxtapose to create a new take on 90s street wear culture.
