HYPEBEAST: Is the Internet Making Us All Dress the Same?

Image via tumblr

Read an interesting article on Hypebeast which was well written by Robert Marshall. It talked about how fashion and style is starting to look uniform and not unique. The internet has helped style dissipate far quicker and in turn moved clothes off the shelves from high street stores to designer thanks to global trends. Read excerpts from the piece below

Although trade still serves as a catalyst for consumer culture diffusion, fashion’s forgone brick and mortar marketplace has since been succeeded by the invention of the internet and its sophisticated e-commerce tools. This international expansion makes it much more accommodating for consumers to purchase garbs from countless brands located all over the world; be it a startup clothier spotted on Kickstarter, luxury wear retailing through MR PORTER, or even popular streetwear within the Hypebeast Store.

The accessibility of product on a global scale is fairly reliant on consumers sharing ideals for what is fashionable. Gone are the days where enthusiasts looked to designer runway showings or subscription-based services offered by regional print style magazines as the go-to source for discovering what is considered in vogue.

LOT78 LEATHER BIKER JACKET

LOT78 || £345
 Cop worthy leather jacket from LOT78 from the Mr Porter Sale. This would definitely not be up for long so it's best you hurry and make that decision. The worn off/used feel is alluring and the leather looks top notch.

The Vans Encinitas Sweat

Whilst 2013 may be off to an excellent start, temperatures are not faring so well.  With t-shirt season a while off yet, there’s no better time to invest in a decent crewneck, the perfect layer between shirt and jacket.  Knowing a thing or two about trends Vans, have grabbed all-over print with both hands. The Encinitas sweat, named after the small coastal town of Encinitas in California (known for amongst other things the beautiful Surfing Madonna mural) is a khaki offering featuring an all over palm-tree jungle design coupled with a contrasting ribbed brown cuff, hem and neckline.  The finishing touch is a classic Vans OTW patch on the left chest, which breaks up the print without distracting from the overall effect of the piece.
