Fred Perry Twisted Wheel Collection

This Autumn/Winter ’13 the Fred Perry design team delved deep into the brands heritage and history and took a nostalgic look at iconic British youth styling.

The main story of this season has to be the Twisted Wheel capsule collection inspired by Northern Soul and the place where it all began- The Twisted Wheel. Famed for its obscure American soul music and all night dancing, Manchester’s legendary Twisted Wheel club sparked a movement in the late 1960’s that gained iconic status and became the focus of Manchester’s emerging Mod scene. This season the Fred Perry team looks to the style of the ‘Wheel’ all-nighters for a Northern Soul inspired range.

Raf Simons X Fred Perry AW13 Collection

The AW13 Raf Simons x Fred Perry collection is classically Mod inspired on the one hand and Americana inspired on the other. The classic Fred Perry shirt is updated with a checkerboard pattern and this season’s knitwear and outerwear, such as the classic Harrington jacket serve up traditional Mod styles. Mod inspired checked patterns are applied to woven shirts.

Americana influences can be seen with ‘Fred Perry’ in oversized letters and collegiate inspired knitwear finished with twin tipping. A key piece of the collection is the varsity jacket with an oversized Laurel Wreath on the reverse available in both burgundy and black.

Other key pieces include contrast paneled and multi-pattern woven shirts, a knitted Fred Perry shirt in checkerboard, knitwear with appliquéd collegiate inspired initials and a classic duffle coat in an electric blue. The collection is designed in warm deep colours including bottle green, burgundy, mustard and navy combined with strong colour pops such as lilac, electric blue and a smidge of orange.

Fred Perry AW13 Bradley Wiggins Collection

Characteristically referencing 1960s style and design, the Autumn Winter ‘13 The Bradley Wiggins collection sees both new and reworked favourites offered in vintage inspired patterns and colours. Refined and streamlined silhouettes incorporate functional design details with a nod to cycling jerseys of the past - zipped rear pockets, scooped hems, quarter zip neck fastenings. Key pieces for the season include the timeless pack-away Jacket crafted in a lightweight nylon ripstop and the classic short sleeved shirt released in vintage inspired mustard yellow, paying homage to Wiggin’s Tour win.

Christopher Raeburn Blank Canvas collection

This Spring/Summer ’13 Fred Perry announce a new Blank Canvas with Christopher Raeburn. Three different military printed shirts are available in all Fred Perry Laurel Wreath shops and online.

“Our collaboration was motivated by my respect for Fred Perry’s incredible history. I like the way that they have always been relevant to different generations, having grown up with Quadrophenia as a massive reference that has never really left me; it's still a part of my creative practice. I wanted to bring a little of the Raeburn world to Fred Perry, referencing our signature military and functional influences – for instance each polo comes with camouflage original pocket detail and a parachute bag for storage”.

Christopher Raeburn was the first designer ever to be awarded both NEWGEN Mens and Womens sponsorship in the same season. In 2008 he launched  his label, inspired by the challenge of creating ethically-aware men’s and womenswear. He has become known for ‘up-cycling’. Raeburn’s collections are highlighted for their intelligent design, high quality and extreme attention to detail.
