Ray-Ban and Oakley Retro Sunglasses

If you’re a driver, then you’ve probably already got yourself a pair of sunglasses; the low winter sun getting right under your visor. With weather still firmly on the wintry side of things however, sunglasses are probably the last thought on everyone else’s mind. It is technically spring though, and sunshine will be here before you know it, so now could be a great time to start looking for what’s on trend.

There is a definite focus on vintage style when it comes to this year’s shades. Perennial classics Ray-Ban have always maintained a retro image, with their Aviators and Wayfarers harking back to a time when the brand supplied the United States Army Air Corps, but they remain at the forefront of fashion. It’s pretty difficult to go wrong with a pair of Ray-Bans, and they’ve actually got a ‘virtual mirror’ on their site now, which lets you see what their range would look like on you. Those who wear glasses or contacts will be pleased to know that there are also prescription sunglasses available from the legendary brand.

Oakley may conjure images of high-tech sports glasses, but this season features the Garage Rock collection, which takes cues from the designs of retro electric guitars. Ambers, golds and matte black are the signatures of the range, and are a real departure from Oakley’s traditional style. It wouldn’t be at all surprising if this line proves to be extremely popular, and makes a return in later collections.

Retro sunglasses are definitely recommended this year, and with so many other brands offering similar styles, you’re pretty much guaranteed to find something that suits you. A good pair of shades can really make your outfit, so it’s worth taking your time in finding a pair that looks great and can be matched with a wide range of looks.
