This winter, designers Sam Shipley and Jeff Halmos of Shipley & Halmos
are releasing the photo essay book, "Everyone Must Be Announced" by
photographer Aaron Stern. Published under Shipley & Halmos'
publishing division, S&H Publishers, the book captures the
experience of watching live music, being in the crowd and connecting
with your fellow concert revelers and the band. Shifting the focus away
from the artist, the candid images document the expressions in the
crowds, the architecture of venues, the marriage of light and sound -
and how they all interact for the ultimate
concert experience. Aaron Stern shot these images at shows of bands
including Sonic Youth, Sleigh Bells, Grizzly Bear, Arcade Fire, The
Strokes, Animal Collective, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Phoenix, The Kills,
and Beach House.
S&H Publishers offers a variety of independently
published, limited edition printed material ranging from books, zines, games,
posters, journals, and art materials. Graphic design, photography, and
illustration have long been forms of creative expression that have inspired
Shipley & Halmos, and with the S&H Publishers division, Sam Shipley
and Jeff Halmos can expand the breadth of creativity and collaboration at Shipley
& Halmos.
The 100 page hardcover book retails for $50.00 and will be distributed
to Barnes & Noble as well as select independent book sellers
nationwide by the renowned distributor, D.A.P. The book is also
available on Shipley & Halmos's website at the following link:
