While most internet fashion moguls will contend that sandals are a no-no for the well-dressed man-of-adventure, and that goes double for the traditional footwear of the spring-break lay about, the flip-flop. Well, I'm going to correct this misguided notion, immediatamente. Not only can flip-flops be acceptable for the well-dressed man, in the right circumstances, they can be almost critical. Let me tell you about the pair that opened my eyes about how comfortable, cool, and practical flip-flops can be.
I recently acquired a pair of Mick Fanning signature series sandals, and can honestly say, that not only are these my favorite pair of sandals that I have ever worn, but might be in the top ten footwear I own.
First off, they're comfortable. The synthetic nubuck upper perfectly contours to the foot, and holds more securely than you would expect of a thong-style sandal. Wet or dry, there's no slippage, and it won't cut between your toes. Also in the comfort category is the resilient compression-molded EVA footbed, which provides excellent arch support that only gets better as it adjusts to your foot, wear after wear. The heel of the Fanning sandal is supported by a 360 degree air cushion, which helps prevent fatigue after a long day beach combing or water sports.
Secondly, the sandal is available in a variety of stylish color combinations, from high-visibility neon green-and-black, to sharp black-and-gray.
The Fanning sandal is also durable and practical. The outer sole has a rugged, high-traction herringbone tread, suitable for a variety of terrains and activities. Combined with the secure, high-quality upper, the overall feeling of the sandals is that of strength and quality. Anyone would be satisfied with sandals that only served, functionally, as durable, fashionable, comfortable wet-dry footwear. But these Mick Fanning signature sandals go above and beyond even that, including a bottle opener integrated into the sole.
The Mick Fanning signature sandal is available at reef.com. They've become my favorite sandals, and I wouldn't be surprised if they were your favorite, too.
