There’s a famous piece of advice that says you should never
cut corners when buying anything that is between you and the ground, whether
that be a mattress, tyres or indeed – your shoes.
Walk down any high street, and you’ll easily be able to grab
a pair of smart looking formal shoes for maybe £20. This might be acceptable if
you’re desperate, but generally, this is a mistake. There are several reasons
for this, all of which suggest you buy high quality, well-fitting footwear from
a reputable shoemaker.
Firstly, cheap shoes look cheap. There’s no hiding the
plastic gloss of a pair of budget shoes. Faux leather might look good
initially, but put it next to the real article, and there is simply no
comparison. If you want to look the best, then don’t cut corners.
Quality is another issue. If you’re going to be spending
money on footwear, then you want shoes that you can rely on. Cost isn’t so much
of an issue when you know you’re going to get good wear from your purchase.
Quality craftsmanship shines through, and you’ll find that they rarely need
resoling.
Comfort is significant. Only a well-fitting pair of shoes
will do for extended periods of wear, and you’ll be very lucky to find cheap
shoes that stay the distance. Go into a reputable shoe shop, and an assistant
will make sure that you leave with exactly what you need. There’s no need to
sacrifice comfort for designer style.
With an abundance of quality English shoemakers
available both online and in physical stores, there is no good reason to give
your feet the very best. Don’t let your outfit down with a pair of shoes that
don’t live up to the rest of your image.
