On Wednesday 9th January, in the setting
of Café de Paris, Peter Werth showcased the AW13 collaborative tailoring range
with Nutters of Savile Row at London Collections: Men. On the catwalk models were joined by Northern Soul
dancers to create a vibrant atmosphere, reflecting the inspiration for the
range. The show was attended by press, buyers and celebrities including,
David Gandy and Reggie Yates.
The collaborative collection of contemporary
tailored sportswear is designed to be sharp enough to enter Mayfair’s private
nightspots and sufficiently relaxed for the dance floors of the hottest
soulclubs, with a spirit and attitude reflecting the heady heights of life
after dark in the 1970’s. It is “Studio 54 meets Wigan Casino”.
The collection features unstructured tailored
sportswear in jersey knit fabrics for blazers and shirts (nodding to our
origins as a knitwear manufacturer), all delivered with Nutter’s signature
oversized lapels, roped shoulders and wide-leg trousers. The knitwear pays
homage to Savile Row by incorporating over scaled Prince of Wales, houndstooth
and windowpane check designs. Outerwear and accessories complete a look that
seamlessly blends the old and new, in a contemporary, modern and relevant way.
The collaboration pays homage to the founders
of two truly British and true London brands – just the way Tommy and Peter
would have liked it.
