The
SS13 collection reflects the style of the burgeoning International Jet Set of
the late 50's and early 60's, when the emerging luxury class took off for the
resorts of Lake Como, Nice and Monaco for a long hot summer wearing a new
continental take on British menswear. Striped blazers, double-breasted linen
and cotton jackets, bright and light trousers, basketweave knits and printed
Pima cotton shirts are teamed with featherweight silk scarves.
Influenced
by a truly unique heritage as a fabric merchant and of course by the world
famous 'Crombie Cloth', inspiration was initially found in an 1865 swatch book
in the Crombie archive. Checked cuttings of cloth provided the deep colour
palette of red, white and blue, with touches of sky and green, and double faced
fabric pieces inspired the development of a new summer 'Crombie Coat'. A slim
fitting waterproof Mac available in navy blue with a vibrant red interior, also
comes in Airforce Blue with a cognac contrast and is a piece destined to become
a new summer classic.
