Looking back to the
halcyon days when London last played host to the internationally renowned
games, Hackett London’s 1948 collection draws on the original sporting kit and
reinvents the style to put it in a new, modern context. Using a very British
regimental palette of red, navy and antique white, the story is a modern take
on classic sporting life which sees the Union Jack flag feature in various
guises, from jacket linings to breast pocket logos. Embracing a gentleman’s
approach to sportswear, Hackett reinforces its partnership with the London
Rowing Club and the iconic Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race with blazers
embellished with embroidered crests highlighting that the 1948 collection has
been inspired as much by the style of the original spectators as it has by the
sportsmen participating.
