Birkinstock Athen Mandals

Birkenstock in a swift attempt not to be left in the dark with the recent wave of ankle length gladiator sandals for men [a.k.a mandals] has re-introduced this natty piece with the classic birkenstock silhouette and aptly named "Athen" probably in reference to a certain time in ancient Greece when ankle length mandals were common sight.

Available @ Japanese retailer Beams.

the athen is not new. birkenstock has been making the athen for decades. it is a classic design and if anything, it is the original modern version of the 'ankle gladiator sandal'.
