Modelling's Tatoo Boys

Ash Stymest Cole Mohr
Jonathan Kroppmann
Josh Beech
Tyler Riggs

Altering the body in any way in form of tatoos or piercing were very rare about 2-3 years ago. Though it was not outrightly stated male models knew that if they wanted to get regular jobs it was best they left their skin unmarked. But fastforward 2-3 years and it seems the most popular models are those with heavy body art, not only pirecings but ear lobe expansion similar to that of the masai tribe in Kenya.

The most notorious male models with body art include Ash Stymest, Cole Mohr, Jonathan Kroppmann, Josh Beech and Tyler Riggs. Josh and Tyler happen to be cousins and all of the models except Jonathan are in the top 20 male models list on models.com.

Aside from Cole mohr the remaining four are involved in the arts. Both Ash and Josh are members of rock bands while Jonathan is an Acoustic solo and Tyler's main passion is acting although he used to be a member of a rockband back before he became a model.

In an industry where the male models are barely recognised unlike their female counterparts the most likely remedy is to engage in extensive personal branding and what better way than having visible body art exclusive to only you.

I think it is more accepted in male modelling as men are not required to look 'flawless' in the majority of work as women are.
