Designer looks less than HALF the PRICE

This is one art i mastered during my days as a student in the university. You know how university's are, you had to do a lot of things with very little money. Hang out with friends, eat out with girlfriends-u know u had to pay-, parties and other little appearances here and there that you had to keep up with. Bad enough i got in as one of the best dressed freshmen it became an obligation to maintain that status ;o) Designer outfits are awesome even though all that's branded is not gold, you got to agree that some designers give you the best luxury your money can get you. Luxury is most times a personal thing, not something you wear on your sleeves-unless of course monogrammed LV and Gucci merchandise :o)- for the whole world to see. I picked out some must haves in every urban man's wardrobe(designer) and tried to pair them with a relatively close substitute for way lower than half the price. The first double breasted blazer is a Martin Maison Margiela (mmm) and it retails for $987. The other double breasted one is by Asos with a price of $120.
The first tuxedo jacket is by Dsquared2 and retails for $1,199 while the other Asos tuxedo retails for $110.
The first striped blazer is mmm and it retails for $717 while the other Asos-Tailored-Slim-Fit-Tipped-Blazer retails for $88.10.
The first striped dress shirt is by Michael Kors and it retails for $105 while the other one is by Asos and retails for $32.31. The truth is most of these large scale merchandisers use the same fabric as the high scale designers-some of the time except rare or exquisite stuff like snake or croc skin, fur ...- but they sell cheaper because they produce in bulk. And the high end designers are not only leaning on the aesthetic value of their products but it's ego value too. That's why Nike can put their logo on a rubber bottle made in Taiwan and sell it for $10.

So many choices- you really kill the male notion that "guys have it easy- all they wear is a tux".
And being the only male fashion blog I read, your opinion is worth double points in my poll post...

so true
I read a fab article once about designer handbag pricing- and how it has absolutely nothing to do w/ cost of the materials or deisgn; just basically what they think ppl WILL pay for it
