Christopher Raeburn Blank Canvas collection

This Spring/Summer ’13 Fred Perry announce a new Blank Canvas with Christopher Raeburn. Three different military printed shirts are available in all Fred Perry Laurel Wreath shops and online.

“Our collaboration was motivated by my respect for Fred Perry’s incredible history. I like the way that they have always been relevant to different generations, having grown up with Quadrophenia as a massive reference that has never really left me; it's still a part of my creative practice. I wanted to bring a little of the Raeburn world to Fred Perry, referencing our signature military and functional influences – for instance each polo comes with camouflage original pocket detail and a parachute bag for storage”.

Christopher Raeburn was the first designer ever to be awarded both NEWGEN Mens and Womens sponsorship in the same season. In 2008 he launched  his label, inspired by the challenge of creating ethically-aware men’s and womenswear. He has become known for ‘up-cycling’. Raeburn’s collections are highlighted for their intelligent design, high quality and extreme attention to detail.

Glenn Kitson Interview | Body and Sole | TGD Store

Body & Sole is The Great Divide's interview series, where we ask some of our favourite styleites some style related Qs and some completely irrelevant stuff too. It's basically a great excuse to talk to good people and make a bit of a noise about it. The second in this series following on (and what an act to follow) from Terry Ellis is none other than Glenn Kitson. For the uninitiated Glenn is the main guy behind The Rig Out, which should be your favourite 'international lifestyle magazine'. Cheekily we asked Glenn 'Laine Kitsu' Kitson to accompany the questions with DARN STEEZY outfits too  : So being a gent, Glenn obliged and curated 5 outfits from SUMMER 13 garments from Thegreat-divide.com

1. "Everybody wants to be a DJ everybody wants to be an emcee" - The immortal words of De La Soul are now applicable to the concept of 'styling' it seems - what separates a stylist from someone with a bag of clothes and a wealthy friend with a magazine?

Good question, I've no idea. I got into this via making the Rig Out, working with very good photographers and designers and as a result brands and agencies offered me commercial work. There's a lot more to what I do do than getting people dressed, I come up with concepts, marketing strategies, write treatments, narratives...all sorts of shit. Poncing around with clothes is about 20% of what I do.

I always think being called a stylist is a bit fruity anyway.

2. If you had the chance to direct a brand and were solely responsible for its longevity as of tomorrow - who would the it be?

I would like to bring Chipie back.

3. Are you ever tempted to start your own brand - a minds-eye collection of garb under your guidance - if so whats it called? who buys it? who sells it ?

I do. I have an idea. I don't want to let the cat out of the bag. Aside from that, there's some interesting Rig Out collabs coming next year.

4. Ronnie Barker or Ronnie Corbett as a cup of coffee companion down the allotment?

Ronnie Barker all day. As long as he doesn't bring his son.

Nicolas Ghesquière Finally Speaks On Why He Left Balenciaga

After months of silence and speculation, French designer and former creative director Nicolas Ghesquière speaks about his sudden departure from Balenciaga, founded by Basque designer Cristóbal Balenciaga. Beginning his 15-year tenure back in 1997 at the relatively young age of 25, Ghesquière’s work helped to firmly cement the brand’s reputation as an acclaimed fashion house and continued to serve the brand long after it was acquired by the Gucci Group (PPR) in 2001. Then, on November 5, 2012, Ghesquière announced his resignation and would reveal little else until his recent interview with System magazine’s Jonathan Wingfield. READ MORE
